What does your team do at On?
We are On! We build, grow, enable and empower the team to drive the future of the Oniverse.
What On teams do you work closely with?
All On teams and individuals across the globe! People are what we do and care about.
How is your team different from counterparts in other companies?
Well, we really try to rethink how we approach our work. We avoid doing things just because they are what “HR does”. Instead, we focus on what matters to the business and trying to create a real impact. We also try to avoid strict policies and rules, or making sure that people are engaged - mostly because our team is already excited and motivated to contribute to On.
What can you tell us about your team members?
We are a diverse group from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. We work closely with each other and we always try to collaborate on topics - even though we are growing. We believe in giving people responsibility but we’re equally happy to act as sparring partners as well.
What is a typical day at work like?
We usually take some time to think about and develop concepts and ideas, and to speak to people on our team and in other departments. We also try to fit a run and a yummy lunch in when we can. Then, of course, meeting potential candidates and people who want to help On shape the future of running - and join our super fun team too!
What is one thing your team achieved last year that you are proud of?
We are a growing company but we have managed to hold on to the unique start-up feel. We do this by paying a lot of attention to culture, how we work and what brings us together.
How do you celebrate success as a team? And how do you have fun as a team?
Breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks - we like food. We also send out messages on important updates or success stories. And we like to celebrate birthdays, important events and milestones. For the last birthday, we brought a juicer to the office and made 2 liters of delicious, fresh juice for the team. Of course, we also celebrate new joiners too.
What is a must for someone who joins the team?
Creativity and autonomy, a can-do attitude and a passion for people. Maybe also liking chocolate.
What is one piece of advice you'd give to a new team member?
Speak and meet to people on a casual basis at the start. This can sometimes be more important than formal meetings or projects you are working on.
