What does your team do at On
We manage the process of sourcing (commercialization, costing, supplier relationship management), forecasting and planning, production, shipping and distribution of all On products.
What On teams do you work closely with?
We work with Development, Sales, Happiness Delivery, Finance and Marketing teams. We also work with external suppliers on a daily basis to make “supply” a functioning “chain".
How is your team different from counterparts in other companies?
I think people always make the biggest difference. We are an energetic and dynamic team - willing to challenge the status quo and any practices that are supposed to be “industry standard”. I think we see things differently than other companies.
What can you tell us about your team members?
We have quite a large team from all kind of backgrounds. Some have experience in the sports industry but the majority don’t. Some are recent university graduates while others are musicians, bankers and traders. Our backgrounds might be different but we all love sport. Last year, we did a team running event and ranked around 120th out of 1000 teams. Next time we want a top 100 finish! As well as having the 2019 Ho Chi Minh half-marathon winner on our team, we have rugby players, hikers, climbers, cyclists, curlers and ice hockey players. Fans of meditation and ice baths too.
What is a typical day at work like?
Like many teams at On, we don’t really have a “typical” day. Those of us based in Europe normally wake up to news from our suppliers and team members in Asia regarding the production side of things. For most of the day we are in internal meetings, learning about new products, making commercialization and production plans, discussing payments, reviewing implementation of recent projects – the list goes on!
What is one thing your team achieved last year that you are proud of?
We supported business growth without making any big mistakes! As well as being a big part of product launches and order delivery, we managed to implement a few important strategic projects too. For example, we moved planning and tracking to intelligent and collaborative digital platforms. We also hosted the first partner summit in On history, with 20 suppliers from around the world joining us in Zürich.
How do you celebrate success as a team? And how do you have fun as a team?
We love ice cream. So, ice cream breaks.
What is a must for someone who joins the team?
You need a positive and can-do attitude.
What is one piece of advice you'd give to a new team member?
Be open-minded and unafraid to challenge things with fresh eyes. Many new team members have offered good suggestions just because they are curious and unused to the way we do things here. It’s great!
